Klaus Oestermann, CEO of IGEL, discusses his tech journey from IBM to leading one of the most influential companies in end-user computing (EUC) over a coffee with TechInformed at the IGEL Disrupt 2024 conference in Munich, Germany.

Oestermann, who has a penchant for coconut milk with his coffee, reflects on how EUC is constantly evolving, especially with the rise of browser technologies, virtualisation, and the growing need for enhanced security amid increasing cyber threats.

The IBM alum, who now runs a winery with his daughter, draws on the parallels between software development and his Napa-based wine business, highlighting the importance of patience and attention to detail in both fields.

Oestermann, who now heads up IGEL, which began as a small hardware company in Germany that grew over 20 years to become a leading innovator of software for cloud workspaces, also touches on AI’s potential risks and opportunities, particularly regarding endpoint security.
